Course Overview

As Singapore advances its phased mandatory climate reporting and assurance requirements, corporate entities face an urgent mandate to elevate their internal governance and risk management practices. While initial corporate disclosures establish a foundation for sustainability reporting, conducting rigorous internal audits and managing independent external verification remain highly specialised domains. To bridge this critical capability gap, TEMBUSU Academy has designed an intensive training programme tailored to equip internal audit teams with the practical tools and technical expertise needed to plan, execute, and govern risk-based sustainability audits from within the organisation.

Delivered across three immersive days (21 contact hours), the curriculum systematically guides participants through the entire sustainability audit lifecycle. Day 1 establishes core reporting foundations, examining regulatory drivers, Singapore compliance timelines, global disclosure standards—such as IFRS S1/S2, GRI, and ESRS—and essential greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting principles. Day 2 shifts focus to auditing data integrity, evaluating double materiality and ESG risk exposures, assessing internal control measures, and applying ISSA 5000 and ISO 14064-3 auditing methodologies through a practical capstone mini-audit. Day 3 addresses external assurance readiness, empowering participants to navigate independent verification expectations, streamline audit workflows, and prepare organisational processes for external scrutiny.

Designed specifically for practical application, this course transforms theoretical compliance guidelines into actionable audit capabilities. Through hands-on group exercises and standardized audit toolkits—including engagement plans, audit programme templates, and workpapers—participants gain direct experience in evaluating ESG data controls and data governance structures. By completing this three-day core programme, internal audit professionals and corporate governance teams acquire the technical mastery needed to safeguard data quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and seamlessly manage external assurance engagements.
