Biodiversity Conservation and Enhancement for Mixed-Use Waterfront Redevelopment

February 9, 2026

All Projects, Environmental & Ecology

TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was appointed to provide specialist biodiversity consultancy services for the redevelopment of a high-profile mixed-use waterfront project situated along the Singapore River. The technical scope involved establishing a robust ecological baseline and developing strategic recommendations to integrate the built environment with the surrounding natural heritage of Fort Canning Park and Pearl’s Hill City Park.

The primary objective of this engagement was to ensure that the redevelopment not only minimised ecological disruption but actively contributed to the regeneration of local ecosystems within a dense urban context.

Key Services

Biodiversity Baseline Surveys: Comprehensive terrestrial assessment to identify existing flora and fauna species within the site and its immediate vicinity.

  • Ecological Impact Mitigation: Development of strategies to safeguard local wildlife during the transition from demolition to construction.

  • Biodiversity Planting Plans: Selection of native plant species to bolster the local ecological network and provide stepping-stone habitats for urban biodiversity.

  • Habitat Enhancement and Restoration: Design of enhanced habitat restoration zones to improve ecosystem services and promote ecological connectivity along the waterfront.

Alignment with UN SDGs

This project exemplifies TAC’s commitment to sustainable urban development and the preservation of natural capital, aligning with the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – By integrating green infrastructure and enhancing urban biodiversity within a mixed-use development.

  • SDG 15: Life on Land – Through the conservation and restoration of terrestrial ecosystems and the prevention of biodiversity loss in the Singapore River precinct.
