  • Greenhouse Gas Verification Services for a Power Generation Company

Home / Projects Projects Greenhouse Gas Verification Services for a Power Generation Company July 31, 2024 All Projects, climate change On February 2022, Singapore’s Finance Minister Lawrence Wong announced during the Singapore Budget 2022 that the city-state will raise its carbon tax to S$25 per million tonnes of CO2 equivalent (mtCO2e) in 2024 and 2025, from its current value of S$5/mtCO2e. The amount will progressively increase to S$45/mtCO2e in 2026 and 2027, and S$50 to S$80/mtCO2e by 2030. This move represents one of the largest government-mandated carbon taxes to finance its decarbonisation efforts, create a regional carbon marketplace, and bring forward its net zero emission deadline. The carbon tax will be applied on emission-intensive facilities that directly emit at least 25,000 mtCO2e of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission annually. Companies registered as a taxable facility may utilise high quality international carbon credits to offset up to 5% of their taxable emissions from 2024 onwards. Under the Carbon Pricing Act (CPA), industrial facilities are required to comply to the Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) requirements to determine the amount of GHG emissions annually. To do so, facilities must submit a Monitoring Plan and an Emissions Report and engage an NEA-accredited third-party verifier to verify the accuracy of the Emissions Report and implications of GHG control measures. One of Singapore’s largest power generation facilities approached TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) to conduct its MRV and verify their reckonable GHG emissions as indicated in their Emissions Report. The scope of MRV includes extensive desk analysis on data collected during the reporting period, and physical inspection of the facility’s emission streams and sources. TAC also conducted in-depth analysis on the facility’s quality management framework and data management system to substantiate the claim made by the client. TAC then submitted an endorsed Verification Plan Summary and Verification Report to NEA for verification once the MRV has been conducted, as required. This project highlights TAC’s commitment to fulfil 3 of UN SDGs, SDG 7: Clean and Affordable Energy, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 13: Climate Action. Previous Back Next

  • Site Assessment and Environmental Impact Study in Singapore

Home / Projects Projects Site Assessment and Environmental Impact Study in Singapore March 4, 2020 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TEMBUSU Asia Consulting together with our partner is awarded a consultancy service work comprising of three sites in the north-eastern part of Singapore where transportation facilities are planned. The scope covers the Site Assessment and Environmental Impact Study (EIS) works. The development of Site 1 includes the construction of a multi-storey development with underground transport operational facilities. The scope includes site investigation & assessment of the environmental impacts due to the proposed works within the former landfill site and design of the associated environmental control infrastructure. The development at Site 2 and Site 3 includes road works, a viaduct, and other ancillary works within an Identified Biodiversity Site (IBS). EIS is to be carried out to study impacts on the IBS due to the proposed road projects. The works include the collection of baseline survey data covering biodiversity, water quality, and noise quality. The data would then be analyzed to assess the environmental impacts associated with the construction and operational phases of the site based on the proposed development plan. This assessment would be the basis to recommend mitigation measures appropriate to the impacts assessed. An environmental management and monitoring plan would then be prepared to mitigate the adverse impacts during the construction stage. Previous Back Next

  • Tianjin Eco-city Zero Waste Plan

Home / Projects Projects Tianjin Eco-city Zero Waste Plan August 12, 2020 All Projects, Urban Resilience TEMBUSU Asia was appointed to develop the Zero Waste Master Plan for the flagship Sino–Singapore Tianjin Eco-city (SSTEC), one of the 16 cities in China chosen to pilot the Zero Waste programme. Being a collaboration between China and Singapore sets the SSTEC apart from the other cities with this project poised to become a model Zero Waste Eco-city in China. Building on SSTEC’s eco- and smart city status, its master plan will take references from Singapore’s own Zero Waste Master Plan and expand on its pilot Implementation Plan. The master plan will incorporate the understanding of the present Key Performance Indicators, datasets on waste stream mapping and projection, and current waste management practices. TAC identified 4 key waste streams in SSTEC (namely domestic, food, horticultural, and construction & demolition wastes) and developed a strategic transformation master plan with 3 approaches: circular economy, technology innovations, and stakeholder engagement. Each approach includes strategies and initiatives customised to SSTEC’s local context to address various challenges and limitations unique to each waste stream. The Zero Waste Master Plan will be developed with a roadmap projected over a 15-year timeline and built on quantifiable and achievable targets for the short, medium, and long-term milestone year of 2025, 2030 and 2035, respectively. • Biodiversity Screening of an Island Offshore of Sabah, Malaysia

Home / Projects Projects Biodiversity Screening of an Island Offshore of Sabah, Malaysia November 19, 2020 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TEMBUSU Asia Consulting was commissioned to conduct a biodiversity screening of an island offshore the mainland of Sabah, Malaysia. While the land use history of the island has left much of the terrestrial vegetation in a degraded state, the coasts and waters around the island are teeming with various marine habitats and biodiversity that utilises these habitats. Our works begin with the desktop study and field survey of the existing biodiversity to better understand the island’s overall ecological importance in the regional context. From these data that we gather, we are then able to provide recommendations to our Client to safeguard marine habitats, restore and enhance terrestrial habitats, and contribute to sustainable, low-impact developmental plans on the island. • Environmental Impact Study (EIS) for a Hotel Development Project in Singapore

Home / Projects Projects Environmental Impact Study (EIS) for a Hotel Development Project in Singapore All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TAC is appointed to conduct an Environment Impact Study (EIS) for a proposed hotel development project that is located next to a petrol station. Per National Environmental Agency requirements, any new development sited within 50m of a petrol station needs to conduct an EIS to assess for potential environmental impacts arising from activities at the petrol station. The petrol station operation generates various impacts related to vapor fumes, odor, and noise. Vehicle movement for refueling and the presence of repair & maintenance activities on-site may cause noise impacts. Other activities, including bulk fuel transfer, storage tank venting, and motor vehicle filling, may also deteriorate the air quality and create environmental impacts on hotel development. The EIS will monitor levels of vapor fumes and noise to assess the potential impacts of petrol station activities on the proposed hotel development. The EIS report will provide recommendations to reduce impacts concerning the air quality and noise to acceptable levels as required by relevant environmental standards. Previous Back Next
