The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is an international independent standards organization that helps businesses, governments, and other organizations understand and communicate their impacts on material issues such as climate change, human rights and corruption. More than 80% of world’s leading reporters use GRI Standards as the framework for developing their sustainability reports owing it’s modular and interrelated structure, and step-by-step guidance on communicating sustainability performance.

 

At TEMBUSU, our course also has an exclusive session on The Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). TCFD is a framework developed to help organizations more effectively disclose climate-related risks and opportunities through their existing reporting processes, in order to increase and improve the reporting of climate-related disclosure.

     Exclusive Session on " Transitioning to ISSB Reporting "     

This GRI Standards Training includes an exclusive session on "Transitioning to ISSB Reporting". Join us for this training to be well-positioned for GHG Emissions reporting in accordance with IFRS S2, as there is high alignment between the requirements in GRI 305, GRI 302, and IFRS S2 due to ongoing collaboration between GRI and IFRS Foundation. 

Outcome

Perspectives on concepts of sustainability reporting and enhanced exposure on how to develop sustainability reports. The training is expected to: 

  • Enhance knowledge of participants on GRI standards, evaluating sustainability reports 

  • Benchmark internal reporting with peers and gear for better reporting 

  • Identifying, engaging with stakeholders 

  • Material matters identification, prioritization and target setting - Collect, compile sustainability data and present sustainability reports 

  • Overview of Sustainable Development Goals and their interlinkages with sustainability performance of organizations

Why Train

We have designed this course to support companies and individuals in developing internal expertise with minimal involvement of external support and produce reports that are assurance worthy.

What Is Covered

This course outlines and introduces participants to the concepts of GRIs reporting principles (content & quality), engaging with stakeholders, material topics identification, prioritization and target setting. Further guidance is provided on identifying material topics. Management approach, data collection /compilation and presentation are covered to enhance participants knowledge on GRI Standards. This course will conduct additional discussion and case study on the sustainability reporting guide by the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX). Each session has case studies and interactive breakout sessions to enable participants to understand the standards and report development process. An end-of-course evaluation will also be conducted to assess participants’ understanding of the course content through an analysis of a selected company’s sustainability report. A session by GRI secretariat is part of the training to answer any specific queries of participants and support available from GRI.

Takeaways

Post completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate directly from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). 25% discount on the GRI Standards Exam fee, by GRI for those candidates who successfully complete the course.

Er. Tan Seng Chuan, Lead Trainer

Er. Tan holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and Master of Science (Building Science) from the National University of Singapore. He is a Professional Engineer (Civil) and Chartered Engineer (Environment & Water) registered in Singapore, a GRI Certified Sustainability Professional, an NEA accredited GHG Lead Verifier and a Senior Practicing Management Consultant (Sustainability) certified by SBACC.

 

Er. Tan has 40 years of professional experience covering Engineering, Environmental and Program Management in the sectors of Sustainability, Climate Change, Environmental, Water, Energy, Manufacturing, Built Environment & Infrastructure, Chemical and Petrochemical, Oil & Gas and other infrastructure projects in the Asia Pacific region. 

 

Some of the representative projects include Financing Low-Carbon, Climate-Resilient Urban Infrastructure in Asia and the Pacific for ADB, Jurong Island Air Quality Study for NEA, Deep Tunnel Sewerage System and Changi Water Reclamation Plant for PUB, Petronas Sustainability Development Program which includes low carbon, energy efficiency, air emission and water management initiatives and other Industrial Program Development.
