Feel free to contact us if you do not find the answers you are looking for. Is the course conducted in-person or online? All of our training courses are live and conducted virtually. Interactive segments are integrated into the course program so that participants are engaged in their learning. Can overseas participants take the GRI course? Yes, we conduct the course completely virtually and accept participants from the Asia and Pacific regions. If you are a resident in these regions, we will be able to register you for the course. I am new to the field of sustainability, which of the two GRI courses would you recommend? Can I include the course in my resume? We recommend enrolling in the GRI Standards course as this is a foundational course and will equip you with skills in how to implement the GRI Standards in sustainability reporting. Yes, after completing either course, GRI will email you directly for feedback and issue a certificate of completion . You can then incorporate the certificate into your CV or LinkedIn. You may also consider taking the GRI certification exam and becoming a GRI Certified Sustainability Professional . Please refer to the next question for more on the exam. Can I take the GRI standards examination after completing the GRI Standards Certified Training? No, in order to take the examination, participants have to complete 4 modules: Introduction to sustainability reporting and the GRI Standards 2021 Update Reporting with GRI Standards 2021 Update Reporting on Human Rights with GRI Standards 2021 Update Integrating the SDGs into sustainability reporting We offer module 1 & 2 in our GRI Standards Certified Training course and modules 3 & 4 in our GRI Reporting on Human Rights and Integrating the SDGs into Sustainability Reporting. The exam is conducted online via proctoring and can be taken any time after completing all 4 modules mentioned above. If you fail the exam, you can retake it up to 3 times within a period of 6 months, with at least 7 days between each attempt. Home / Projects Projects Sustainability Awareness Training for the Shipping Industry September 15, 2022 All Projects, Capacity Building TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was invited to conduct a sustainability awareness training for a shipping company that provides classification and technical advisory services to the marine and offshore industries. The participants consisted of the global management team from Asia (i.e. Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India) and Middle East countries. With about 90% of world trade transported by sea and global shipping accounting for nearly 3% of the world’s CO2 emissions, the shipping industry plays an important role in tackling climate change. International Maritime Organization (IMO) has set a target to reduce the carbon intensity of international shipping by at least 40% by 2030 and reduce the total annual greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping by at least 50% by 2050 based on 2008 figures. In Singapore, the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) launched the Maritime Singapore Decarbonisation Blueprint 2050 in March 2022 contributing to Singapore’s commitments under the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. Verification is an evidence-based approach that ensures that reported GHG emission data and information is true and fair. Home / Services / Carbon & Sustainability / Carbon Verification & Validation Carbon Verification & Validation With the Carbon Pricing Act (CPA) mandating registered corporations to submit Emissions Reports annually for relevant facilities, as well as emerging grants and loans for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction projects, reporting of GHG emissions is now more pertinent to the industry than ever before. In order to be a responsible business and a market leader in the industry in today’s climate, companies must put accountability into practice through transparent reporting and verification of their GHG emissions. TEMBUSU Asia has a team of GHG verifiers that supports companies in such projects by providing verification services for carbon abatement in accordance with ISO 14064-3 which covers two aspects: Validation and Verification. Validation involves an analysis of carbon project data and documentation. TAC will deliver a validation opinion statement to ensure adequate GHG emission reduction against the project objective. Accredited GHG Verification on Carbon Tax As an NEA Accredited GHG Emissions Verifier, TAC is well equipped in conducting independent verification through objective assessments of the Emissions Reports by the company. Measurement & Verification for Carbon Abatement Grants With our professional expertise and systematic approach, TAC is equipped to support clients in conducting verification works for carbon abatement projects. Measurement and verification (M&V) plans and third-party verification reports are typically required to be submitted before and after project implementation respectively in the grant application process. Information about validation/ verification process Our validation/verification process starts with understanding project scope, objectives and criteria from the client during the pre-engagement stage. TAC shall ascertain the availability of resources and threat to impartiality before proceeding with the proposal submission. Upon acceptance of proposal by client, TAC moves into planning of validation/verification activities by conducting strategic and risk assessment and preparing validation/verification plan. Notice of Verification will be issued to the client prior to site or virtual audit at the end of planning stage. During validation/verification process, TAC will remotely sample data for desktop analysis prior to site or virtual audit. Finally, TAC will conclude its opinion in a report. Draft report will be reviewed prior to the issuance of the validation/ verification report and statement. View a sample of our GHG Verification Statement Complaints and Appeal Process At TAC, we take customers’ feedback, complaints and appeals seriously and they shall be handled professionally on a timely basis. If there is a reason for the organisation to dispute or appeal a decision, or complain about the validation/verification process, they can address it to Board Risk Committee of TAC directly at feedback@tembusuasia.com . An investigation will be carried out to identify the root cause and corrective action shall be proposed, implemented, and evaluated for its effectiveness. The appealer/complainant will be informed of the outcome of the investigation and the corrective action will be taken. The submission, investigation and decision on complaints will not result in any actions against the complainant. The investigation process is subject to requirements for confidentiality, as it relates to the complainant and to the subject of the complaint.
