- Sustainability Awareness Training for the Shipping Industry
Home / Projects Projects Sustainability Awareness Training for the Shipping Industry September 15, 2022 All Projects, Capacity Building TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was invited to conduct a sustainability awareness training for a shipping company that provides classification and technical advisory services to the marine and offshore industries. The participants consisted of the global management team from Asia (i.e. Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India) and Middle East countries. With about 90% of world trade transported by sea and global shipping accounting for nearly 3% of the world’s CO2 emissions, the shipping industry plays an important role in tackling climate change. International Maritime Organization (IMO) has set a target to reduce the carbon intensity of international shipping by at least 40% by 2030 and reduce the total annual greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping by at least 50% by 2050 based on 2008 figures. In Singapore, the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) launched the Maritime Singapore Decarbonisation Blueprint 2050 in March 2022 contributing to Singapore’s commitments under the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. Our training aims to equip participants with the skills to anticipate future trends, risks, and opportunities and sort the broad array of options for action to identify efforts that will provide the greatest business value, hence fulfilling SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. - Sustainability Reporting Advisory for a Palm Oil Company Listed in Singapore Exchange
Home / Projects Projects Sustainability Reporting Advisory for a Palm Oil Company Listed in Singapore Exchange February 25, 2022 All Projects, Carbon & Sustainability TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was engaged to assist a palm oil company in developing its Sustainability Report for FY2021. The palm oil company has plantations in Indonesia and focuses on the cultivation of oil palms; the processing of fresh fruit bunches into palm oil, palm kernel oil, and palm kernel cake; and the provision of bulking as well as logistics services. - Development of Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans (EMMPs) across Singapore
Home / Projects Projects Development of Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans (EMMPs) across Singapore May 20, 2024 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) developed several Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans (EMMPs) for projects across Singapore. These projects include the redevelopment of a recreational park, the construction of ticketing booths, and the reinstatement of land. EMMPs aim to ensure that environmentally sensitive receptors (i.e., humans, animals, and plants) around the project site are not negatively impacted by the project activities. TAC first identified the surrounding sensitive receptors and conducted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). TAC then outlined the necessary measures to minimise potential impacts on the environment. These include measures to protect biodiversity and maintain regulatory standards for air quality, water quality, and noise. To ensure that the measures were implemented, regular site visits were conducted and the EMMP was adapted in an iterative process. One of the projects was in close proximity to coastal and forested habitats which host biodiversity. One mitigation measure to minimise disturbance to the swiftlet colony located nearby was to potentially avoid major works during the swiftlet breeding season. Overall, the effective implementation of EMMPs ensured that the projects were carried out in a sustainable and environmentally-sound manner. #EMMP #SDG11 #SustainableCitiesCommunities #SDG15 #LifeOnLand #EIA Previous Back Next

- Biodiversity Screening of an Island Offshore of Sabah, Malaysia
Home / Projects Projects Biodiversity Screening of an Island Offshore of Sabah, Malaysia November 19, 2020 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TEMBUSU Asia Consulting was commissioned to conduct a biodiversity screening of an island offshore the mainland of Sabah, Malaysia. While the land use history of the island has left much of the terrestrial vegetation in a degraded state, the coasts and waters around the island are teeming with various marine habitats and biodiversity that utilises these habitats. Our works begin with the desktop study and field survey of the existing biodiversity to better understand the island’s overall ecological importance in the regional context. From these data that we gather, we are then able to provide recommendations to our Client to safeguard marine habitats, restore and enhance terrestrial habitats, and contribute to sustainable, low-impact developmental plans on the island. - Carbon Verification & Carbon Neutrality Advisory services for a digital payment tokens (DPT) trading exchange
Home / Projects Projects Carbon Verification & Carbon Neutrality Advisory services for a digital payment tokens (DPT) trading exchange September 3, 2021 All Projects, Carbon & Sustainability TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was appointed to provide Carbon Verification and Carbon Neutrality Advisory services for a digital payment tokens (DPT) trading exchange based in Singapore. Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) suggests limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius to mitigate climate change. To achieve this threshold, carbon neutrality by the mid-21st century is essential. While large organizations are urged to transform their business to become net-zero, it is impressive to see an SME voluntarily demonstrates its commitment to climate actions. The scope of work included reviewing and verifying carbon inventory prepared by the client. TAC provided advisory service guiding the client through the challenges of meeting requirements set out in the Carbon Neutrality Standards, PAS 2060. Through this service, TAC supports our client in leading the transition to low carbon for long-term values and resilience in meeting SDG#13.
