Home / Projects Projects Feasibility Studies at Mandai Mangroves and Mudflat May 23, 2019 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology TEMBUSU Asia Consulting together with our partners were awarded the consultancy services for feasibility studies at Mandai mangrove and mudflat by the National Parks Board. Being one of the last few remaining mangroves and natural shoreline of Singapore, the future 72.8 ha park shall seek to preserve its ecological condition with minimal disturbance to the site’s ecosystem and biodiversity. Mandai mudflat is an important place for the birds with its rich grounds of molluscs, crustaceans, and worms during the low tide while the birds roost at the adjacent Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. The consultancy services comprise of the ecological study and survey of the existing site, hydrodynamic and ecological modelling, to the planning and design of the 72.8 ha park. An Environmental Impact Assessment will also be carried out to mitigate any possible impacts for the park development. This park will also serve as an important green node at the northern part of the Railway Corridor as well as part of the eco-discovery corridor in the Park Connector Network’s Round Island Route. The Recycling Facility is a pioneer in the region in providing waste solutions and engaged in waste recycling of electronic waste (E-waste) which leads to resource recovery of rare metals. As part of the assessment, Recycling Facility was audited to determine compliance of business operations with applicable national environmental regulatory requirements & business permits and to identify whether any potential environmental risks present. Who Should Attend Sarah Pascoe, Trainer Sarah is an ecologist and Senior Consultant at TEMBUSU with over eight years of professional experience with wildlife research and biodiversity conservation. She is an NParks’ Certified Animal Management Specialist. She has conducted and reviewed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies, prepared Environmental Management & Monitoring Plans (EMMP), and assisted in obtaining statutory clearances from regulatory agencies. She has led EMMP projects in sensitive biodiversity areas across Singapore for several government agencies. Her experience as a conservation project officer for the National Parks Board (NParks) involved conducting ecological studies on various mammalian and avian species. Her research experience includes conducting an island-wide census on several wildlife populations in multiple habitat types including secondary forest, grasslands, urban parklands, mangrove forest and intertidal zones. Joanne Lim, Trainer Joanne is an ecologist and Consultant at TEMBUSU with over five years of professional experience. She has conducted field research in natural habitats ranging from high-altitude forests to the open ocean. Her past work involved the monitoring of corals to track relative sea-level change in Southeast Asia. She has conducted coral surveys at islands such as Pulau Semakau, St John’s Island, and Sentosa Island. Joanne has been heavily involved in several EMMP projects in Singapore and has extensive experience liaising with stakeholders such as technical agencies, contractors, and nature groups. Her background in research has honed her skills in data collection, data mining and data analysis. She is skil led in creating Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) by Structure from Motion (SfM) photogrammetry. Her expertise in computer software such as GIS and R has enabled clients to streamline their EMMP reporting process.
