Home / Projects Projects Specialist Consultancy Services at a Residential Development in the Northern Part of Singapore March 25, 2025 All Projects, Environmental & Ecology A recent housing development adopted an integrated approach to transform a forest in Northern Singapore into a dynamic living space. Leveraging on ecological and environmental expertise , TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was appointed to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and develop an Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) for the site. A core conservation area was identified to be retained due to its rich biodiversity and the presence of a stream flowing through a freshwater swamp. TAC revalidated the existing EIA to minimise negative impacts to the flora and fauna that might be caused by the construction work. A comprehensive EMMP was implemented during both infrastructure and building phases to ensure compliance to mitigation measures. Monthly fauna surveys were also conducted to monitor the changes in biodiversity around the site. To improve the environmental knowledge of key personnel, trainings were held on certain biodiversity topics such as the species found in the project site, the significance of biodiversity protection, and strategies to minimise human-wildlife conflict. Home / Projects Projects Mandatory Packaging Reporting (MPR) Advisory for Industrial Solutions Provider in Singapore May 12, 2021 All Projects, Urban Resilience TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was appointed to provide Mandatory Packaging Reporting (MPR) advisory services for a total industrial solutions provider based in Singapore. This Client deals with the packaging of imported goods that are sold both locally and overseas. The MPR was introduced as part of the nation-wide waste management policy to kickstart Singapore’s trajectory towards Circular Economy. This policy has brought businesses’ attention to waste resource management and solutions, such as preparing a waste management approach, measuring 3R (Reducing waste, Reusing and Recycling resources) performance, and navigating associated risks and circular opportunities. The project scope includes guiding the Client through the challenges of meeting requirements set out in the MPR policy and providing advice on how to prepare the necessary information required for the report submission. Home / Projects Projects Tianjin Eco-city Zero Waste Plan August 12, 2020 All Projects, Urban Resilience TEMBUSU Asia was appointed to develop the Zero Waste Master Plan for the flagship Sino–Singapore Tianjin Eco-city (SSTEC), one of the 16 cities in China chosen to pilot the Zero Waste programme. Being a collaboration between China and Singapore sets the SSTEC apart from the other cities with this project poised to become a model Zero Waste Eco-city in China. Building on SSTEC’s eco- and smart city status, its master plan will take references from Singapore’s own Zero Waste Master Plan and expand on its pilot Implementation Plan. The master plan will incorporate the understanding of the present Key Performance Indicators, datasets on waste stream mapping and projection, and current waste management practices. TAC identified 4 key waste streams in SSTEC (namely domestic, food, horticultural, and construction & demolition wastes) and developed a strategic transformation master plan with 3 approaches: circular economy, technology innovations, and stakeholder engagement. Each approach includes strategies and initiatives customised to SSTEC’s local context to address various challenges and limitations unique to each waste stream. The Zero Waste Master Plan will be developed with a roadmap projected over a 15-year timeline and built on quantifiable and achievable targets for the short, medium, and long-term milestone year of 2025, 2030 and 2035, respectively. Home / Projects Projects Annual Gas Pipe Inspection at Jurong Island June 15, 2021 All Projects, Urban Resilience TEMBUSU Asia Consulting (TAC) was appointed to carry out the annual inspection of gas pipe installation in Jurong Island. This annual inspection is a requirement of the Gas (Supply) Regulations to ensure no leakage or corrosion to the gas installation and that gas supply remains safe. Upon completion of the annual inspection, a Certificate of Fitness will be issued if the gas installation is found to be in good operating condition. This is the third consecutive year that our Client engages us in this service, and we are pleased to be able to deliver satisfactory and quality services that remain consistent through the years. The regulation requires affected companies to report their primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging that has been circulated into the Singapore market. This reporting will help to lay the foundation for Singapore’s transition towards an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework for packaging waste management by 2025. TAC assisted the Client in understanding the reporting requirements, provided a method of collecting and presenting packaging data, recommended strategies and solutions in developing a packaging 3R plan, and guided the client in a successful NEA submission. Learn More Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) According to the Convention on Biological Diversity, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process of evaluating the likely environmental impacts of a proposed project or development, taking into account inter-related socio-economic, cultural and human-health impacts, both beneficial and adverse. At TAC, our team of multidisciplinary experts are well equipped to deliver comprehensive EIA services, including initial consultation with government agencies, scoping, baseline data collection, as well as impact identification, assessment, and mitigation. Our team is also experienced in stakeholder engagement consultations, which are often done as part of the EIA process. The EIA process also takes into account analysis of physical parameters such as airborne noise, ambient air quality, and ground vibration levels in order to assess the environmental impacts. Biodiversity Impact Assessment Through our team of in-house and partner specialists, we conduct biodiversity surveys, often as part of larger projects, including Biodiversity Impact Assessments (BIA), which may form part of an Environmental Impact Assessment. Wildlie & Ecological Services Wildlife & Ecological Services Fauna Surveys Fauna surveys are conducted to identify and record species from various taxonomic groups. We use a range of different standard methods and technology, including visual transect surveys, camera trapping, bat acoustic surveys, and hand netting and trapping of invertebrates, depending on the needs of the project. The results of these surveys may be utilized for analysis in biodiversity screening assessments, biodiversity impact assessments, and other relevant studies. Wildlife Management Plans Wildlife Management Plans are devised for upcoming developments to minimise the risk of wildlife mortality and injury, while also reducing the risk of human-wildlife conflict incidents. Through an understanding of a project site’s baseline conditions, and the identification of target species found within and around the site, our team will develop wildlife management plans. Such plans are often included as part of the client’s Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) and may include aspects such as plans for directional clearance of trees, pre-felling fauna inspections, and wildlife response and rescue protocols. Wildlife Management Plans Anchor 1 Habitat Restoration Advisory Habitat restoration involves rehabilitating or enhancing degraded habitats to increase the biodiversity or ecological function of a site. Our team’s practical experience and ecological knowledge allow us to help our clients devise a habitat restoration strategy, including setting objectives and goals, recommending planting palettes, and devising monitoring parameters for a proposed habitat restoration project. EMMP Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) TAC works closely with clients and contractors through their pre-construction, construction, and operation phase, to ensure that their activities comply with existing legislation and environmental protection guidelines. An EMMP is a systematic approach to mitigate negative environmental impacts and monitor the implementation of these mitigation measures. It is a useful tool to assess whether the mitigation measures taken are effective to reduce or mitigate potential impacts caused by this project to minimal and acceptable levels during the construction phase. With the rate of development, both in Singapore and the region, it is crucial to ensure that the impacts of development on the natural environment are reduced. Our EMMPs include relevant aspects of environmental protection such as Wildlife Management Plans, Flora Management Plans, Lighting Management Plans, and other related plans. This will help our clients develop in an environmentally-sensitive manner. Arboriculture and Habitat Enhancement Services Arrow Arrow Trees, which are often integral in biophilic design, provide a range of amenities including shade, air purification, temperature regulation, and habitats for biodiversity. As such, companies see the need to assess the company’s waste stream and conduct a waste audit for their operation. As part of the Client’s sustainability efforts, TEMBUSU Asia (TAC) will assist the Client in developing a framework to ensure the traceability of various categories of waste and end-of-life treatment by the vendors. This project is unique as there is limited standards and references in the logistic industry on the best practices. The Client was concerned about the reputational risks associated with its waste vendors and how they can monitor or influence their vendors’ actions related to sustainability issues. TAC supported the client in the analysis of international waste management practices and provided innovative solutions that would help the client to reach their sustainability goals. Home / Projects Projects Measurement & Verification (M&V) Plan Review for Semiconductor Fab March 5, 2021 All Projects, Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation TEMBUSU Asia Consulting were engaged for a review and endorsement of the Measurement & Verification (M&V) Plan prepared as part of the non-CO2 emissions (CHF3, CF4, NF3) abatement project for a leading semiconductor fab based in Singapore. As part of resource efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, the Client has identified opportunities in their process line to destruct greenhouse gases. The technology involves installation of mitigation tools that reduce release of greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere. The scope of works included reviewing and endorsing the M&V Plan proposed by the Client. The endorsement was carried out by a Lead Verifier certified by NEA under the Carbon Pricing Act.
